FINDING GOD

I tried praying to the sky, but there was only a sigh
I tried praying to the trees, but there was only a gentle breeze
I tried praying to the sea, but only waves would roll
I tried worshipping the sun, but with it I spun
I tried all the tricks of the Black Book and even changed religions
From Jew to Christian, Christian to Muslim, Muslim to vain
But it only left me with a chain, a chain of life tagging along
Then one fine day God walked my way
He took me in His arms
And held me to His chest
And there I found my pleasure and my rest

Note: For lack of a better pronoun I use "He" for God, but I don't assume God is a He. This is the first poem I wrote at age 15.
